Transformation Programs Overview

It’s a new era; one in which long-term fiscal trends, demographic changes and technological advances are fundamentally reshaping public, private and non-profit organizations. Creating value in these times is the defining challenge for leaders and incremental change isn’t enough – leaders need to plan and deliver transformations that lead to increased transparency, productivity and equity, and valued outcomes.

The ability to lead, design and execute transformative change requires innovation in policy, programs, production and provision of citizen services. This can spur radical changes in the way government and its partners do business and require significant collaboration and negotiation across traditional boundaries. As the leadership of public sector organizations responds to these forces, the policies and services being developed will require new insight on developing, implementing, growing and sustaining innovation – particularly with understanding of how digital information and network-enabled business models shape strategy and create public value.

Leadership for a Networked World helps leaders to meet these challenges by developing and running custom transformation programs for individual organizations and collaborations. During these programs LNW brings together faculty, industry experts and organizational leaders to develop an innovation and transformation plan and the organizational structure (often cross-jurisdiction partnerships and/or shared services centers) required to deliver success.

LNW delivers these programs through a tailored or completely custom process.

  • Tailored Programs – are developed by taking an existing LNW research and executive education program and shaping the program to meet the needs of the operating environment of a particular organization or community. These programs can be delivered on campus or at a regional location of the clients choosing and can be tailored to half-day, full-day or multiple day sessions.
  • Custom Programs – are designed through in-depth analysis of a particular organization’s operating environment and the key challenges and choices facing the organization. LNW then designs an organizational learning and advisory offering that helps the organization to chart a clear path forward, gain consensus and resolve, and design a pathway to execute on its vision, mission and plan.

LNW provides a comprehensive offering, coordinating facilities, faculty, researchers and staff, for the development and administration of programs.

The Transformation programs are based on the LNW “Horizons of Value” maturity model developed at Harvard and guide an organization and/or collaboration through the lifecycle of ideating and delivering innovation and transformation initiatives.
