The annual Human Services Summit brings together senior policy makers and executives in the human services community to identify best practices and innovation, define the opportunities and challenges in adopting innovations and new business models, and deliver a roadmap for charting the transformation journey. Current research is focused on the Human Services Value Curve. Download the latest report, "Realizing the Vision," here. The Human Services Summit focuses on identifying the practical, realistic steps that can be adopted and adapted in relatively short timeframes to improve the overall coordination of human services programs at the state and local levels. This special event provides a powerful opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world’s foremost human services officials as well as human services policy makers, researchers and executives. Through case studies, best practices briefings and one-on-one dialogue, you will learn how to transform your organization’s capacity to deliver by:

  • Activating Promising Practice: Case studies will illuminate lessons learned during the launch of new human services delivery techniques and models in order to prepare you for adopting best practices. Particular attention will be paid to how leaders craft a family-centric delivery model, mobilize executive sponsorship, finance an initiative, and create an environment for change.
  • Fostering Enabling Business Models: Networked business models combined with new managerial processes and Web 2.0 technologies provide the capability to reach across traditional organizational boundaries to extend and scale-up services. Together, we’ll identify the critical skills needed to assess organizational readiness, introduce new ways of work, and manage change.
  • Aligning Policy and Strategy: Innovation that aligns with needed outcomes is critical for meeting future demands. This implies a need for greater state and local flexibility and administrative simplicity, while assuring appropriate public accountability. Collectively, we will forecast long-term needs for human services, ideate the policies, programs and technologies required, and project the workforce-performance and adaptation required for success.

Ultimately, you will leave the Summit with ideas that can be applied in the furtherance of a more efficient, effective and accountable service delivery system; and you will learn and share the leadership skills needed to create the agenda for innovation and change that will turn human services promises into reality.
